The final of the first Westerfield Novice Championship was held at the BS Area 29 show on 6th August 2011.  The course contained the famous Westerfield log with an optional fence beside but we are pleased to report that not too many combinations 'chickened out' and tackled the log in fine style! 

The title went to Lizzie Thornton riding her own Reddy or Not II and they were also the recipient of a very smart rug for their efforts.  Thank you to Sylvia Partridge for presenting the awards, and as always to the Partridge family for their support and use of their venue.

It was also good to see some new combinations attend the show and come forward for the final.  We will be running the series again in 2012 with qualifying classes held in Discovery competitions at shows in Suffolk during the spring and early summer.

After 15 years of support and sponsorship of the Novice Horse Championship in Area 29, what was known as the Jayrest is now the Westerfield Novice Championship.  Qualifiers are being held for horses in Discovery classes across the county with the final to be held at the BS Area 29 show at Westerfield on 6th August 2011.
